The Beginnings of RectorSeal

The company was established in 1937 in Houston, TX as a division of Rector Well Corporation of Ft. Worth, TX to produce thread sealants (RectorSeal No. 1) for oil field threaded fittings.

Entry into the Trades

RectorSeal No. 5, invented in the 1950’s by RectorSeal, established the company in the plumbing segment, quickly becoming the thread sealant of choice for plumbers. The growth captured the interest of the Capital Southwest Corporation, a publicly held company headquartered in Dallas, TX and let to Capital Southwest acquiring RectorSeal in 1969.

Expansion into HVAC & Electrical

During early 1990s, RectorSeal introduced Acid Away, the patented AC compressor burnout acid neutralizer. Through the acquisition of Steward Hall, RectorSeal expanded its line of HVAC chemical products, including condenser and evaporator coil cleaners, to the HVAC portfolio. RectorSeal expanded its plumbing footprint while the acquisition of Nokorode and entered electrical supplies through the acquisition of Wire Snagger in the early 2000s.

Growth in Domestic Manufacturing

Due to strong growth, RectorSeal moved to its current location in Houston in 1998, resulting in an integrated chemical lab, production facility and shipping location. Moreover, RectorSeal expanded its mechanical and plastic manufacturing by purchasing Airtec and its manufacturing facility, located in Fall River, MA, in 2011.

Doubling Down on the Trades

Over the years, with both chemical and mechanical product additions including Safe-T-Switch, Aquaguard, EZ Trap, Clean Check, G-O-N, Kickstart, Novent, SureSeal, Fortress, Slimduct, Wire Grabber, and Big Foot, RectorSeal became a leading manufacturer across a range of firestopping, plumbing, HVAC and electrical products. RectorSeal has innovated and driven solutions for condensate management, lineset protection, solvent cement application, HVAC mounting & installation, pipe joining, DWV solutions, wire pulling, and firestopping.
