Don’t forget the “V” in HVAC

HVAC = Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning……….simple enough! However, too often Ventilation is overshadowed by the Heating and Air Conditioning needs of our buildings. We notice when it’s cold, and we definitely notice when it’s hot, but what are the signs that we’re not getting enough fresh air? With insufficient ventilation, the air can be stale, stinky, loaded with carbon dioxide, and filled with harmful pollutants, bacteria, and viruses.

If you have too much ventilation, you’ll significantly increase utility consumption, while bringing in dust, pollen, outdoor debris as well as noise pollution into your building. The health benefit of bringing fresh air in has been proven time and time again by multiple safety and industry organizations.

In commercial buildings there are requirements on the amount of fresh air that needs to be introduced into the conditioned space. Homes are following closely behind with fresh air requirements being written into building codes.

Why the push for fresh air? Our health and safety! Improved indoor air quality has been linked to higher test scores in children, improved workplace performance, higher workplace atmosphere satisfaction, and better comfort in our homes.

So how does one fix the issue of poor indoor air quality while also trying to keep energy costs down? Let Geary Pacific’s team of indoor air quality experts help you find the correct solution for your application.
